This is a sneak peek at the revised Random Inventory tables from the forthcoming playtest draft 0.7.0 of Eat God.
Necessity is the mother of invention, but invention spent weekends at Whimsy's house. And Whimsy had a Gamecube, and a cool ping pong table.
This appendix contains useful tables for various purposes. The Random Inventory tables can be used to quickly fill out your God-eater's starting inventory, while the Random Quirks Table can be incorporated as an optional step during character creation to further flesh out your God-eater.
Future revisions will both expand upon the types of tables provided and provide additional content for existing ones.
When choosing a God-eater's starting inventory, the following tables can be used to quickly select items which are suitable for a given milieu. If you are using a playset, it will specify which of the following milieux (if any) to use; otherwise, choose one appropriate to your session's general setting. If you are not sure which milieu to use, the following table can be used to select one at random:
| d6 | Milieu |
|---|---|
| 1 | Random Inventory I: Western Fantasy |
| 2 | Random Inventory II: Modern Mundane |
| 3 | Random Inventory III: Antique Lands |
| 4 | Random Inventory IV: Stars Above |
| 5 | Random Inventory V: Rust & Rubber |
| 6 | Random Inventory VI: Pirates (title TBD) |
TODO: Add more miliex
For each inventory slot whose contents are to be randomly determined, roll on the following table, then (if necessary) roll on the indicated sub-table for the appropriate milieu.
| d6 | Item Type |
|---|---|
| 1–3 | Roll or draw on the chosen milieu's “Random Tools” table |
| 4–5 | Roll or draw on the chosen milieu's “Random Food” table |
| 6 | Catalyst |
These tables are appropriate for conventional sword and sorcery fantasy, ambiguously historical Western European period pieces, and other “generically medieval” milieux.
